Outline of method

17.1 Weight loss in an oven for 1 hour

The sample is heated in an oven at the specified temperature for 1 h.

17.2 Weight loss under vacuum at temperatures above room temperature

The sample is heated to constant weight in a vacuum oven at a specified temperature and pressure.

17.3 Weight loss under vacuum at room temperature

The material is stored for a specified time under reduced pressure in the presence of phosphorus(V) oxide as desiccant. The percentage loss is determined.

17.4 Weight loss at 100 °C for 4 hours

The material is heated at 100 °C for 4 h, and the loss in weight is determined.
